28 Sep Women’s Giving Circle 2021 Grants

The Women’s Giving Circle of Fulton County is pleased to announce their 2021 grant recipients. A total of $9,000 was awarded to five area projects. Women’s Giving Circle grants are made possible through members donations and the Women’s Giving Circle Endowment Fund at the Fulton County Community Foundation.  Since forming in 2010, the group has provided $70,500 in grants to local projects and organizations.

First Place, $3,000

Rochester Splash Pad-New water feature for Rochester City Park

The Rochester Splash Pad will be a new water feature located at the Rochester City Park by Manitou Mountain. A 20 by 40 foot pad with multiple water features including dump buckets, a water umbrella and inground nozzles will offer a fun place for families to play and cool off. The group is working towards a 2022 project completion.

Second and Third Place, $2,000 each

Recovery Café-After hours transportation

Recovery Café Fulton County opened in the spring of 2021. The organization serves individuals in recovery of all types. Since opening, they have noticed that several members have had difficulties with transportation to and from their location, particularly on evenings and weekends. This grant will allow them to offer a transportation solution during these times.

Times Theater-Concession stand renovations

The Times Theater board is working to reopen the historic venue in downtown Rochester for performances and community events. A functioning concession stand will be a key feature. Plans include updated food service equipment and stand renovations that will greet guests as they enter the facility.

Fourth and Fifth Place, $1,000 each

Kewanna Union Township Public Library-Youth programing

The Kewanna Union Township Public Library serves as the community hub in Kewanna. Current programing serves all ages. These grant funds will be used to continue and expand programs for community youth.

Rochester Pickleball Courts-Courts installed by Rochester City Pool

As pickleball increases in popularity, so does the demand for local courts. Currently temporary courts are being used on tennis courts. This grant will help install a group of 4 pickleball courts by the Rochester City Pool. The courts will be located next to a pavilion adjacent to the golf course driving range. If needed, additional courts may be added in the future.

Mini Grant

Leading up to the Women’s Giving Circle grants, the group offered a $500 mini grant. Members nominated worthy organizations and the public was asked to vote on the recipient. The Rochester Splash Pad was over whelming selected at the 2021 Mini Grant recipient.
