07 Dec Thank you for your support on #GivingTuesday
The Fulton County Community Foundation (FCCF) held an Open House on November 28th in celebration of #GivingTuesday. During the event, gifts totaled $80,870. Of this amount, $42,090 was given to community funds, which will be matched $1 for $1 by the FCCF. All gifts made to the FCCF will help to better the quality of life in Fulton County.
“We are so grateful to the generous donors who helped to make Giving Tuesday a success,” said Fulton County Director of Development Brian Johnson. “After the busy shopping days following Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday helps us to think about what truly matters and to make a difference locally.”
During the open house, guests enjoyed a “Year in Review” video about the projects that received grants in 2017. The event was covered by a live broadcast with WROI station manager Tom Bair. On air interviews included Rochester Mayor Ted Denton and Community Foundation board member Douglas Morton. Pat and Robin Burkett catered the event with breakfast, lunch, and a beautiful display of desserts.
#GivingTuesday is a global initiative. This year alone, more than $177 million was raised online in more than 98 countries. The social media tag encourages individuals, families, nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses, and corporations to share with one another how they’re making a difference on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It also encourages the donation of time, resources, and talents to address local need. #GivingTuesday harnesses the potential of the generosity of people around the world to bring real change in their communities.
Everyone at the FCCF would like to thank the generous donors who helped to make #GivingTuesday a success in Fulton County.
