12 Dec Giving Tuesday Donations Reach Nearly $109,000!
On November 28, the Starke County Community Foundation hosted their annual Giving Tuesday event, where community members mingled and celebrated the international day of generosity.
Community member donations surpassed $59,500 and combined with the local match funds and over $37,000 in Lilly Endowment match funds, SCCF’s Giving Tuesday total was more than $108,500! All dollars donated will be put back into the community through grants and scholarships in alignment with the foundation’s mission to improve the quality of life in Starke County now and forever.
Giving Tuesday, always held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, brings the generosity of people all around the world together to make real change, and year after year, Starke County exceeds the day’s sentiment.
Giving Tuesday goers enjoyed a catered lunch prepared by Papa Farm Pizza and desserts from Cookies by Arielle. Laura Dessauer, Papa Farm Pizza Co-owner, supplies herb plant starts as event takeaways to coincide with the foundation’s “Thank you for helping us Grow” theme for the day.
“Each year, I am in awe of the incredible generosity of community members who show their support for Starke County through their Giving Tuesday gifts,” says Jacque Ryan, SCCF Director of Development. “I’m grateful I get to work for such an impactful organization and that I have the opportunity interact with so many kind-hearted folks from different walks of life!”
There is an ongoing $2 match for every $1 donated to any community funds that will be available through 2024.
