02 Dec Starke Shines on Giving Tuesday
The Starke County Community Foundation (SCCF) hosted their annual Giving Tuesday event, where community members mingled and celebrated the international day of generosity.
Community contributions combined with $15,000 in matching funds resulted in a Giving Tuesday total of over $63,000 for the SCCF! A portion of the matching dollars were provided through the Hardesty Memorial Endowment Fund. All dollars donated will be put right back into the community through grants and scholarships in alignment with the foundation’s mission to improve the quality of life in Starke County now and forever.
Giving Tuesday, always held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, brings the generosity of people all around the world together to make real change and year after year, Starke County exceeds the day’s sentiment.
SCCF’s Giving Tuesday goers started the day off with donuts from Fingerhut Bakery and a catered lunch was provided by RJ Howard of Maggie Lu’s Market. Special goody boxes were provided to all attendees and included a special treat from Cookies by Arielle and an ornament from Stelher Co
“It’s inspiring to see Starke County’s generous spirit reflected in our Giving Tuesday total!” said SCCF Director of Development Jacque Ryan, “I’m grateful to everyone who came out to visit and make a donation in addition to the local businesses who helped make the day extra special.”
