Read our Q&A with the Miami County Community Foundation Director of Development!
Question: How long have you worked at NICF?
A: Since November 2020. I had COVID on the first day of my brand new job.
Q: What is the best part of your job?
A: That is like asking who your favorite child is. Working for the Northern Indiana Community Foundation is the high point of my career. I have the opportunity to work with many different sectors in the community to make Miami County a more beautiful and equitable community for everyone. We do that by providing grant opportunities to small local nonprofits, scholarships to local students, leadership and legacy building. I could not possibly pick one and say it’s the best. But I can say the work we do is part of why Miami county is one of the best small communities to live in.
Q: What is something you want people to know about the foundation?
A: I want everyone to know about the impact we make almost on a daily basis. Impact that is not just recognized in dollars and cents but in art, music, culture, education and philanthropy. We helped bring color and life back to the community by supporting the festivals as they transitioned out of COVID- this included the Art festival, Cole Porter Festival, the Circus City Festival, and the International Circus Hall of Fame. We support school programs at all three of our community schools. We continue to provide much needed scholarships to preschool students. We have supported the vision and mission of incredible flagship organizations in our community to empower their ability to grow and serve more individuals. Our work has incredible roots that run deep.
Q: What do you do for fun?
A: My job is fun! Do you know how much fun it is to award money to worthwhile endeavors? If you don’t, ask me about being on our grants committee! In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, eating, hiking, eating, kayaking, eating, music, dancing and did I mention eating?
