Board Member Spotlight: Matt Feller

Question: How long have you volunteered with the Miami County Community Foundation?
Answer: I began volunteering with the Miami County Community Foundation in 2022. I volunteered to assist the foundation with selecting the 2023 Lilly Foundation Scholarship Miami County recipient. It was through that experience that I joined the Miami County Community Foundation.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being involved with the MCCF?
A: I enjoy having a direct impact on our community. Unlike many boards, the Miami County Community Foundation Board is a group of local citizens committed to fully supporting our community through financial support in perpetuity! The impact that our board makes in Miami County will live on long after the current board members are gone. So, I take pride in knowing that I am simply a member of a team working behind the scenes to make our community a better place for everyone in Miami County….forever.

Q: What is something you want people to know about the community foundation?
A: I want people to know that gifts to the Miami County Community Foundation stay in Miami County to support local organizations and projects. I also want people to know that even the smallest of gifts can help sustain a positive quality of life in Miami County. So, no gift is too big, and no gift is too small.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: I have very little free time anymore, but when I do have free time, I enjoy playing tennis, golf, hiking, running, and riding my bicycle. When the weather is nice, I can usually be found doing something outdoors. My wife and I both enjoy traveling, particularly traveling to national parks to hike in the mountains. During the colder months, I enjoy reading.

Q: What do you love most about your community?
A: I love the closeness and generosity of our community. Through the years, I have found that when people in our community have a need, our community always rises to the occasion to help our neighbors. Though some in our community may not have much, they give what they are able. While we are not a perfect community, I am optimistic that there are great things ahead for our community, and I am happy to be a small part of moving our community forward. I am blessed to live and work in Miami County.
