Question: How long have you volunteered with the Starke County Community Foundation?
Answer: I’m completing my first year volunteering with SCCF.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being involved with the SCCF?
A: I really enjoy being involved with SCCF because I feel that it has brought me closer to my community.   I’ve been introduced to many new organizations, small businesses, and people – it’s wonderful discovering these treasures in my own home!  The diversity, ingenuity, and compassion that is evident when the surface of a small town is pulled back is truly inspiring.

Q: What is something you want people to know about the community foundation?
A: I’d like people to know that the people involved in SCCF work very hard to help people be able to help themselves. They give of their time, money, and influence to boost our community as a whole.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: I feel very passionately about homesteading so a lot of my free time is spent gardening, canning, cooking, and working with our animals, especially our bees.   My husband and I have several beehives and we love working with and learning about them as well as teaching others about these amazing creatures!  I feel the happiest when I’m busy working with my hands!

Q: What do you love most about your community?
A: I love how the community pulls together when there’s a need; It’s really tight-knit.  You know just about everyone and if you don’t know them, someone you know does!!  Since we’re so interwoven, if it happens to one it happens to us all, so we all work to make it better.
