SCCF Awards Grant to Support Interactive Learning for Head Start Students

The Starke County Community Foundation has awarded a grant of $6,295.95 to Starke County Head Start to enhance classroom learning through the use of interactive technology.

The funds will be used to purchase an INSPIRE 65” interactive touch screen Smart Board, which will provide Head Start students with a multi-sensory and engaging educational experience. The Smart Board comes equipped with a suite of educational software and includes professional installation, a three-year warranty, lifetime technical support, and access to a tech training library.

“The Interactive Smart Board facilitates learning for preschool age children as a multisensory experience,” said Jane Pollitt, Director and VP of Children’s Services at Marshall Starke Head Start. “Technology and interactive media when used intentionally within the framework of developmentally appropriate practice support’s Head Start’s school readiness goals and expands educational opportunities for the enrolled children.”

The grant was made possible through the SCCF’s Hardesty Memorial Endowment Fund, established by Jim Hardesty to support local charitable programs.
