11 Jun Oregon-Davis School Corporation Receives Grant for STEM Curriculum Kits
Oregon-Davis School Corporation received a $7,000 grant from the Hardesty Memorial Endowment to fund ETHOS STEM curriculum kits for students in grades 4-6.
The STEM kits are a great way to make learning hands on, interactive, and engaging for students. It exposes students to real-world connections through problem solving, inquiry, and critical thinking. These kits allowed students to work as a team and apply what they were learning in class to real world concepts.
Since the application of the STEM kits, there has been an increase in testing scores for the students. ILEARN Science scores increased in 6th grade from 31% to 50% just this year. 4th grade scores jumped from 42% to 44%. The higher-level thinking skills that were needed for the STEM activities have benefited students’ testing scores as well.
