Miami County’s Women’s Giving Circle Awards $8,000 to Local Organizations

The Boomerang Sisterhood Women’s Giving Circle gathered on Tuesday, September 23 at Story Church in Peru for its Annual Social Gathering. The evening brought together more than 40 local women to celebrate community giving and award grants to organizations serving Miami County.

This year, the Boomerang Sisterhood awarded a total of $8,000 to four local organizations: $3,000 to Miami County YMCA, $2,000 to Macy Food Pantry, and $1,500 each to First Church of the Nazarene and Indiana Women in Need Foundation.

“Our Boomerang event was a wonderful success,” said Cheryl Broyles, Miami County Director of Development. “It was inspiring to see so many women come together in support of local organizations. The generosity and spirit shared in the room reminded us why Miami County is such a special place to call home!”

Guests also enjoyed dinner, fellowship, and meaningful touches from community members who made the evening extra special. The Sisterhood recognized Courtney Wissman for creating handmade pressed flower bookmarks, Mrs. Walters’ preschool class for painting pumpkins, and Aleah Arnett for crafting bracelets in the Sisterhood’s colors. Special thanks were also extended to Pastor Eric McCoy and Story Church for providing the event space and sound support, and to Nancy Cover-Fields and Beth Manning for preparing a wonderful meal.

Since its founding in 2008, the Boomerang Sisterhood has awarded more than $80,000 in grants to local charitable organizations. Membership is open to all women: $12/year for ages 8–15, $60/year for ages 16–21, and $120/year for ages 22 and older. Half of all contributions go directly to that year’s grants, while the other half is invested in a growing endowment fund that will benefit Miami County forever.

The Boomerang Sisterhood welcomes any woman with a heart for giving back. Whether you live in Miami County or simply care about its future, you can become a member and take part in this inspiring effort. Women can already begin paying their 2026 dues online to ensure their vote counts next year.
