18 Dec MCCF Celebrates #GivingTuesday
The Miami County Community Foundation (MCCF) celebrated #GivingTuesday on November 28th with a live broadcast on WARU. The MCCF also invited community members to stop by the office for hot cider and doughnuts. Gifts and pledges totaled $12,796. Of this amount, $4,875 was given to community funds and will be matched $1 for $1 by the MCCF. All gifts will help to improve the quality of life in Miami County.
“After the busy shopping holidays that follow Thanksgiving, we’re grateful to have Giving Tuesday as a time to stop and think about what truly matters,” said MCCF Director of Development Connie Cutler. “I’m humbled by the generosity of our community members who came out on Giving Tuesday to make a difference locally.”
#GivingTuesday is a global initiative. This year alone, more than $177 million was raised online in more than 98 countries. The social media tag encourages individuals, families, nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses, and corporations to share with one another how they’re making a difference on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It also encourages the donation of time, resources, and talents to address local need. #GivingTuesday harnesses the potential of the generosity of people around the world to bring real change in their communities.
