15 Jul Knox Community Elementary School Receives Starke County Education Grant

Last year, the Starke County Community Foundation awarded a $1,000 grant to Knox Community Elementary School to support their 4th Grade Activities Fund. This initiative helped provide meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities for approximately 130 students.
With this funding, teachers were able to cover the cost of several classroom activities and events, including field trips, holiday celebrations, science experiments, and creative projects like tin punching for Indiana’s birthday and a figurative language activity using candy. Students proudly received American flag pins during their Veterans Day program and enjoyed themed hallway decorations leading up to ILEARN testing.
In addition to making these experiences accessible to all students, the grant also allowed teachers to purchase needed classroom supplies and materials for future activities. The support helped ease the financial burden often shouldered by educators and made it possible to create more engaging, memorable experiences for their students.
Gifts to the Starke County Community Foundation make stories like this possible. If you’d like to support educational opportunities for local students, contact the SCCF office at 574.772.3665.
