Starke County Community Foundation Director of Development, Jacque Ryan, join 21 other distinguished individuals from 13 counties across Indiana in being honored as a Mutz Philanthropic Leadership Institute graduate at the 2024 Philanthropy Leads Dinner. This event took place on October 8 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis and was hosted by the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance. The event featured an exclusive fireside chat with Dr. Jerome Adams, 20th U.S. Surgeon General, and Presidential Fellow and Executive Director of Health Equity Initiatives at Purdue University.

“I am grateful to the Northern Indiana Community Foundation, the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance, and organizers behind the Mutz Philanthropic Institute for allowing me to invest in myself and my future. I experience anxiety which has kept me from pursuing opportunities like this in the past. However, the various IPA professional development opportunities and leadership retreats I engaged in during my early years as a Community Foundation director helped prime me for this type of program and made me feel more capable and competent which led to me throwing my hat into the ring for consideration,” said Ryan. “At the end of the Mutz program, I feel that I have a lot more confidence in myself and my work. I’ve made many incredible connections with some of my fellow classmates, and I look forward to coordinating with the organizers and experts from the field in the future.”

The Philanthropy Leads Dinner is always a highly anticipated event that celebrates leadership in Indiana’s philanthropic community. This year’s discussion on public health comes at a crucial time, following Indiana’s $225 million investment in health initiatives. Dr. Adams shared insights on chronic disease prevention, leveraging community assets, and fostering healthier lifestyles.
