10 Mar International Women’s Day Celebration
Mary Beth Photography Studio in North Judson was abuzz during The Hive’s International Women’s Day celebration on March 8. The Starke County’s women’s giving circle hosted the open-house style event along with photographer and business owner Mary Beth Johnson.
“It was a fun event visiting with various community members and talking about how The Hive makes a difference in Starke County,” Starke County Community Foundation Director Jacque Ryan shared. “The giving circle is such a great concept; women pay dues, and their dollars go back in the community to make a difference on a local level. You can see the impact your donation makes.”
Director Ryan added, “I appreciated getting to celebrate International Women’s Day by supporting multiple businesses that are owned by or primarily staffed with local ladies including Mary Beth Photography, Main Street Floral, Grand Central Grocery and Perk, Fingerhut Bakery, and Imagine That Design.”
The Hive will host their annual gathering on World Bee Day, May 20, where members’ votes determine what grant amounts go to which Starke County charitable projects. Hive members 22 years old or younger pay $60 per year and all other members pay a $120 yearly donation for their annual membership.
