Giving Tuesday a Success in Starke County

The Starke County Community Foundation (SCCF) held a holiday open house on November 28th in conjunction with #GivingTuesday. Nearly $15,000 was generously given by community members and organizations in celebration of #GivingTuesday. This was the SCCF’s 3rd year of participation in the event.

“After the busy well-known shopping days, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the nonprofit world has claimed the Tuesday after Thanksgiving as a day of giving back,” said SCCF Director of Development Sarah Origer. “We’re so thankful that the community chose to give such a generous gift on Giving Tuesday. Those dollars will help to improve the quality of life in Starke County forever.”

#GivingTuesday is a global initiative. This year alone, more than $177 million was raised online in more than 98 countries. The social media tag encourages individuals, families, nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses, and corporations to share with one another how they’re making a difference on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It also encourages the donation of time, resources, and talents to address local need. #GivingTuesday harnesses the potential of the generosity of people around the world to bring real change in their communities.

The SCCF is so thankful for the generosity of the community this #GivingTuesday.
