Tiger Pride Scholarship Fund

The Tiger Pride Scholarship was created in 1991 by Mr. Larry Moudy and Mrs. Jan Nowling as a way of providing scholarships to students who have represented Peru a positive way during their years at Peru High School. This could be demonstrated through positive and active participation in clubs, sports, academics, and community. Both Mr. Moudy and Mrs. Nowling believed that a person’s character is as important as their grade point average, and they believed that students should be rewarded for integrity and commitment. Throughout the years, this scholarship has been funded primarily by the Peru Community School Corporation’s faculty and staff, and because of these contributions, Peru High School has been able to present this scholarship year after year to hundreds of very deserving seniors; many who have gone on to pursue and find successful careers.

The following criteria must be met to qualify for this scholarship:

  1. Applicant must be a senior at Peru High School
  2. Applicant must have been accepted to an accredited college, university, technical school, vocational school, or military.
  3. Applicant must have had at least a 90% attendance rate and no more than three office referrals.
  4. Applicant must have been involved in at least two extra-curricular activities. This can include clubs, sports, and community involvement.
  5. Applicant must have maintained at least a C+ average.
  6. Financial need is not a factor in the determination of this scholarship.
