Board Member Spotlight: Evan Gottschalk

Board Member Spotlight: Evan Gottschalk

Question: How long have you volunteered with the foundation?
Answer: I’ve been a volunteer for the last 13 years

Q: What do you most enjoy about being a board member?
A: I have a strong interest in long term financial giving and planning and also in my home community of Fulton County improving over time. As a board member, I have had a great opportunity to learn how the FCCF provides an opportunity to accomplish both of those things in one.

Q: What is something you want people to know about the community foundation?
A: The FCCF is close to eclipsing $20,000,000 in gifts since it was founded. That number will surprise a lot of people since we live in a small, modest community. The reality is that, while we have had a few larger gifts over the years, most of the gifts have been small to moderate amounts made every year by regular community members like you and me.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: My favorite things to do involve spending time with my family. My wife, Emily, and I have been blessed with 4 great kids: Jane, Luke, Alice, and Drew. We all enjoy board and card games, sports like football, basketball, baseball and pickleball, fishing, and reading good books.

Q: What do you love most about your community?
A: I love the people in our community. They give Fulton County its heart and its life. I have felt supported and encouraged by my neighbors, teachers, pastors, classmates, coworkers, friends, and family in this community as long as I can remember. I learned to be generous with my smile and my heart by watching my parents, Steve and Carol Gottschalk, and my grandparents, Bob and Elaine Gottschalk. They also taught me about humility, gratitude, and appreciation for others, which seem to me to be very important ingredients in a welcoming community.
