We spent all last year celebrating the 25th Anniversary for Starke County Community Foundation. We gave monthly Pop Up Grants to a number of local nonprofits, but thought we could spread the love by supporting some local businesses and our community members. SCCF hosted Cups of Kindness!
On October 1st, International Coffee Day, we partnered with Rabbit Coffee Roasting Company in Knox and Grand Central Perk in North Judson to thank community members for their support by covering the cost of a beverage and offering the first 50 customers at each location a free travel mug featuring our 25th anniversary logo. We spoke with Rabbit owner, Nathan Bradley, and he said it reminded him of a time where there was a line of customers who participated in “paying it forward,” where one customer covered the cost of the drink of the person in line behind them and the next person did the same and it just continued into the afternoon. That story, in addition to the countless others we’ve encountered over the years, exemplify the generous nature of Starke County and its residents. As people have established funds and scholarships to support local projects, programs and the needs of others, we were so excited to give back to the public.
