14 Nov Board Member Spotlight: Megihann Leininger
Question: How long have you volunteered with the Fulton County Community Foundation?
Answer: I believe I have been on the community foundation board for 6 years, I was very fortunate to have been part of scholarship selection committees for two years prior to that.
Q: What do you enjoy most about being a board member?
A: I feel very blessed to be part of the community foundation board. It is a group of the most thoughtful, caring, compassionate, and generous people I have ever met. Many of these members I would not have met outside of this board. I enjoy getting to be part of a group who is always looking for ways to help and support our county. Being on the board has also come with many learning opportunities. Brian always provides education for the board that is timely and relevant.
Q: What is something you want people to know about the community foundation?
A: It is so important to know that the gifts you make to the community foundation help our community today and will also help our community in all the years to come. You do not have to make huge gifts to impact and support your community. You are also able to decide how you want your gift to the foundation to impact the community, do you want to support scholarships, you can do that, do you want to support families in need, you can do that, do you want to support a not for profit, you can do that too. The opportunities to give perpetually to our community are endless through the community foundation!
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: In my free time I love to spend time with my husband, Greg, and our kids Aaron, Seth, Mariah, Michael, Gavin & Grady. One of our favorite spots to be is at our cottage on Yellow Creek Lake, I enjoy antiques, old cubbies and wood bowls, are some of my favorites. I also enjoy a good home improvement project; however, I am not as handy as YouTube has led me to believe. Attending a country concert and traveling also top my list. Our kids are in 4H, I serve on 4H Council, and we enjoy participating in that as a family. I serve as our Outreach Chairperson at Mentone United Methodith Church, I appreciate the opportunity to find ways to serve locally. Day to day, I work for Purdue University, I am thankful for a career that fits in well with things I enjoy doing outside of work.
Q: What do you love most about your community?
A: We genuinely live in the “Best Kept Secret” – Fulton County. I do not believe you could find better people or places to be than we have right here. I am so glad I have the opportunity to live, work, and serve in such an amazing community!
