Starke County Veterans Memorial Plaza

Starke County has a proud and abundant history of service men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. On May 25th, the groundbreaking for a space to honor all veterans will take place on the southeast corner of the Starke County Courthouse square.

The new Veteran’s War Memorial will include the names of those lost in action in wars and conflicts dating back to the Civil War etched in beautiful, black granite stone. Benches and ADA accessibility will allow for a space of relaxation and meditation as individuals reflect on the sacrifices service men and women have made to secure our freedom.

This large-scale memorial will cost approximately $220,000. However, thanks to supporters and donors like you, we have already raised $120,000! Additionally, Starke County has the unique opportunity to partner with the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) in conjunction with Patronicity in order to reach our goal.

IHCDA has presented “CreatINg Places,” a place-based crowdfunding grant program. The mission of this program is to inspire and support the development of new public places or the activation of underused places. The new War Memorial fits just that! This means that if Starke County is able to raise $50,000 by local community members in 60 days, IHCDA will match that and grant our project $50,000 making our total $100,000. Exactly the amount we need to close the gap in our funding!

Help Starke County fund this incredible memorial by donating online at!/#%2Fedit or send a donation to NICF PO Box 807 Rochester, IN 46975. Checks can be made payable to NICF. Please share this campaign with friends and family. We only have until July 21st to ensure the match from IHCDA!

In the words of General John Pershing, “Time will not dim the glory of their deeds.” Your donation to this NEW plaza will ensure just that!
