Challenge Grant: $93,000

Havilah Beardsley House is a multifaceted cultural and historical museum home, offering city visitors a glimpse into the lives of Elkhart’s founding family, Dr. Havilah and Rachel Beardsley, as well as rich exposure to architecture and art.  The home will stand as a symbol representing the values of pride of place, the entrepreneurial spirit and a progressive attitude that captures the talents of future generations. The ECCF funding, offered as a challenge grant, will assist the Ruthemere Foundation in the final capstone project for restoration of the Havilah Beardsley Home. The completion will include final investigations of the historic structure, installation of a public restroom, widening of the driveway, and additional gallery space for larger special exhibits for visitors.
