The Museum’s mission is to acquire, exhibit and preserve works of art by past and present U.S. visual artists, thus illuminating, inspiring and conserving America’s visual heritage. The Museum presented a retrospective exhibition of the paintings and drawings of Polish-born artist Adam (Grochowski) Grant upon the 70th anniversary of his internment as a POW.
As a self-taught artist, he survived concentration camps and eluded death by creating drawings to entertain his captors. The exhibit charts Grant’s art from 1945 to his death in 1992. ECCF funding assisted with costs in presenting a lecture by Oxford historian of Polish history Norman Davies, marketing, transportation of artwork, security and insurance.
