Day 1: Poverty Simulation

April 26, 2022 ~ 2-5 pm

Poverty is a reality for many individuals and families. But unless you’ve experienced poverty, it’s difficult to truly understand. The Circles Indianapolis poverty simulation bridges that gap from misconception to understanding. Produced by Community Action of Missouri, this is an interactive immersion experience. It sensitizes community participants to the realities of poverty

 

Day 2: Bridges out of Poverty

April 27, 2022 ~ 8:30 am to 3:30 pm

Fulton County Historical Society

Bridges out of Poverty workshop provides both the social service provider and the community member key lessons in dealing with individuals from poverty. Terie Dreussi-Smith will be teaching the classes on poverty. To learn more about Terie, feel free to follow this link.

Day 2 Workshop Cost: $20 ~ Lunch provided

 

Participants will:

– Create a mental model of poverty

– Review poverty research

– Examine a theory of change

– Analyze poverty through the prism of hidden rules of class,

  resources, family structure and language

 

Registration required for both events. Registration begins March 1. Programs sponsored by Fulton County Community Foundation, Area Health Educations Center, and CASA of Fulton County.
