Trust Pass Through Fund Operation Round Up® is a national program that allows participating electric cooperatives to partner with their members to provide charitable giving funds in their local community. The concept is simple; each month the total amount of the participating member's bill is rounded up to the nearest dollar and those extra pennies go into the fund designated for distribution to those in need in the area. This fundraising program is completely voluntary. A seven person, volunteer Advisory Board has been created to oversee the designation of funds and ensure that grants are handled wisely. The Miami County Community Foundation holds the funds until the quarterly distribution. Grant periods are:
Typical areas of consideration for Operation Round Up grants are Cultural, Education, Recreation, Human Services, Health and Medical, Community Development, and Environmental Awareness. Operation Round Up® funds will not be used for paying utility bills, funding political or private interests, and it does not increase energy rates. Approximately 80% of the Miami-Cass REMC membership participates in Operation
Round Up®. What may only seem like pennies a month adds up quickly. Collectively
approximately $26,000.00 annually could be raised to support local organizations
such as food banks, senior groups, fire departments, EMS, school organizations,
etc. Together a small change makes a big difference. |
